By the time I emerge from the bathroom, dried and clothed, the guys are all in the kitchen chatting over breakfast. I walk in, brushing my hair back from my face, and the kitchen goes silent.

“What?” I ask as I reach for a bowl from the cabinet, stretching on my tiptoes. Titus silently grabs a bowl and passes it down to me as I smile my thanks.

I shoot a glance around the room as I head over to the table where the breakfast dessert, otherwise known as French Toast Crunch, is located. Don’t judge. Copious amounts of sugar are part of a healthy balanced diet.

I hear a murmur and a soft snort from behind me and raise an eyebrow.

Caleb speaks up. “You’re dressed?”

I look down questioningly at what I am wearing and then over to Caleb. “Yes?” I say, slowly. “Wearing clothing is the socially acceptable thing to do when one goes out in public.”

I hear a smack and look over to see Caleb rubbing the back of his head and glaring at Titus.

Galen sighs and folds his arms, drawing my gaze to the lean muscles highlighted by his rolled shirt sleeves. I flush and fix my gaze on the cereal box until I get my composure back.

“What my brother was trying to say was you look nice, Bridgette.” I glance down at what I’m wearing. It’s basically just jeans and a collared shirt. Nothing out of the ordinary.

“Thanks?” I can’t help my questioning tone.

Atticus scowls. “What these idiots can’t seem to say is that it’s nice to see you in clothes that actually fit properly. While it’s hard to hide that you’re a girl,” his laser-focused gaze on my chest makes me contemplate the likelihood of x-ray vision, “that poor excuse for an outfit on Monday definitely wasn’t doing you any favours.”

I should really be insulted at the words coming out of his mouth, but it’s not like I had much choice in the clothes I wore before. I was basically stuck with whatever was available in the charity bin.

Caleb lets out an insulted huff on my behalf. “You can’t say shit like that to a girl, Atty,” Titus grunts his agreement.

I shrug my shoulders. “Meh. It is what it is. I know what I look like and really don’t care. I’ve definitely never been a slave to fashion.”

Caleb’s glance strokes over my body. “That is definitely fashion’s loss,” he states, his heated stare sending fidgety electricity down my spine.

Not sure what to say after that statement, I shrug again and decide to sit down and start eating my sugary start to the day. Galen looks down at me for a second, his thoughts hidden behind his glasses, and then folds himself into the seat next to me.

“We’ve rearranged our schedules so you won’t have any classes alone. Even though we are currently on Earth and no one back on Aetlantis knows we have found you yet, I would still feel safer if you had one of us nearby.”

That sentence gives me a soft, melty feeling in my chest.
